Child Protection Policy

At King's Church we have implemented a Child Protection Policy based on current best practices.

Safety Net

Safety Net is the implementation of our Child Protection Policy. It is a statement of our policy, current best practices and the procedures we use to ensure the policy is implemented in a consistent manner.

The King’s Church Policy Statement

The elders and youth workers of The King’s Church are committed to the intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and social well-being of the young people in their care.

They are committed to implementing the word of God as stated in the Bible; and the Home Office Code of Practice, Safe from Harm, within the context of the Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004.

They understand that the instinct of Christian compassion is to be generous, but this proper spirit needs to be tempered by the risk sex offenders pose and the manipulation strategies they use.

They require that all persons who have substantial access to children and young people:

  • are on the membership list of The King’s Church
  • regularly attend Sunday meetings
  • regularly attend cell group meetings
  • undertake regular training in good practice and in issues relating to child abuse
  • provide evidence of their identity
  • complete an Information Form and a Declaration Form
  • give a written undertaking that King’s Church may obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, detailing information held on the Police National Computer and on lists held by the Department of Health and the Department for Education and Skills

The trustees undertake to:

  • provide a safe environment for workers, volunteers and young people
  • support and train all those working with young people
  • make sure, as far as possible, that no false accusations can be made against its workers and volunteers
