About Us - Our Beliefs

The doctrinal bases of King's Church are the fundamental truths of Christianity as revealed in the Bible. Below you can find these listed as the King's Church 'Statement of Faith.' For those who are better informed by general descriptions, we are orthodox evangelicals, missionally focussed, charismatically inclined and eschatologically confused!

We believe in:

  • The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture as originally given and its supreme authority and sufficiency in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12, 13).
  • The essential unity and equality of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
  •
  • The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and the final judgment. (Psalm 115:3; Ephesians 1:11)
  •
  • The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation. (Genesis 3:1-19, Romans 3:22, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3).
  •
  • The full deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, His virgin birth and His real and sinless humanity, His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, His bodily resurrection and His present reign in heaven and on earth. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:26-27,35; 1 Peter 2:22,24; Rom 1:4; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Acts 2:31-33; Hebrews 2:8-9;
  •
  • Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death, once and for all time, of our representative and substitute, Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and man. (Romans 3:21-26, 8:1-2)
  •
  • Justification as God's act of undeserved mercy, by which the sinner is pardoned of all his sins, and accepted as righteous in God's sight, only because of the righteousness of Christ imparted to him, his justification being received by faith alone. (Romans 5:12-21)
  •
  • The need for the Holy Spirit to make the work of Christ effective to the individual sinner, granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ. (Acts 11:18)
  •
  • The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in all those thus regenerated, producing in them an increasing likeness to Christ in character and behaviour, and the baptism in the Holy Spirit empowering them for their witness in the world and gifted service in the church. (John 16:8-11; Acts 2;38; 1 Corinthians 12:7-14; Romans 8:9; Galatians 3:14, 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:18)
  •
  • The one holy universal Church, which is the Body of Christ and to which all true believers belong, and in the autonomy of the local churches, free of any external authority and control but connected with the authentic ministries of apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers and evangelists. (Acts 13:1-4; 15:19-31; 20:28; Romans 16:1,4; 1 Corinthians 3:9, 16; 1 Corinthians 5:4-7, 13; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Ephesians 4:11-14.)
  •
  • The future personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge all men, executing God's just condemnation on the unrepentant and receiving the redeemed to eternal glory, and the literal and eternal nature of heaven and hell. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10, Revelation 20:11-15)
