About Us - Our History

The church started out as a small group of people from Eastleigh Christian Fellowship who lived in Bishop's Waltham. Tony had moved from Yorkshire to Southampton, working with the Southampton Community Church, voluntarily. After a year he joined the Eastleigh Christian Fellowship where about 10 people from Bishop's Waltham were members.

These ten had a passion to start a new church in Bishop's Waltham and we began Sunday meetings in January 1987, in the Youth Hall. A year later we moved to the Institute in Bank Street. Numbers increased each year until in 1994 there were 96 adults and 30 children and we had outgrown the accommodation. In late 1994 we moved into our own building, The King's Christian Centre, in the High Street which has been delightfully renovated making a superb home for our church family.

Today we are an accepted part of the community, having many opportunities to serve and interact with our neighbours. We have excellent relationships with other Christian churches in the locality and are planning to develop a greater degree of unity and respect through working closely together with others believers in the area.
