The Discovery Course

The Discovery Course is designed to help non-Christians understand the Christian faith and for new Christians to build the foundations of their new Christian life.

Some years ago we developed a short eight week course, called the 'Discovery Class', which was designed to help non-Christians understand the Christian faith and for new Christians to have a good foundation on which to build their Christian life. Over the years we have taught this course many times, modifying and improving it as we went on. Many people have become Christians each year in this way as they have heard the simple truth of the Good News of Jesus.

The course includes the following subjects:

1. Why bother with Christianity?
2. Can we trust the Bible?
3. What’s so special about Jesus?
4. Making sense of the Cross
5. How to become a Christian
6. How to be sure

The course has been conducted mostly in small groups, some mixed and some gender specific. We usually include a speaker, a PowerPoint presentation, course notes and take-home notes for further study. We have found this multi-featured approach an indispensable learning aid.

Now we have committed the teachings to video and they are used in even smaller groups and also one-to-one. They continue to have a powerful effect and have been a great means of leading folk into the Christian faith right up until this present day.
