Unified and Concerted Prayer
On Sunday we looked at the verse from Acts 1:14 They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.
In the beginning of the early church we saw a mixed collection of people from different backgrounds with different temperaments and different characters all give themselves to unified and persistent prayer.
They were all obeying what Jesus told them to do when he said in Luke 24 that they should stay in Jerusalem until they are clothed with power.
It was when they were clothed in power that they could then go out and be witnesses for Jesus. But concerted and constant prayer was the key that was going to unlock missional fruitfulness.
Why don't you consider how you can take a step up in your prayer life this week. Perhaps you have given up on prayer? Perhaps you have been trying to sort out things in your own life by your own wisdom and strength? Make a decision this week to persist in prayer and when you come together at homegroup press into God with united, concerted prayer! Remember what it says in Psalm 133 that when God's people come together and live in unity, God bestows his blessing.
